C., WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 1942 Mrs. Albert Drake At Baptist Church Thursday All members of. the Missionary society and the Business Woman’s feircle of the First Baptist church j^-e urged to attend a Mission study course at the church on Thursday evening, May 7th, at 6:30. Mrs. Albert Drake of Hen dersonville, will teach “Fellow Helpers to the Truth” by Willie Jean Stewart. After an hour of study, supper will be served in the dining room of the church, Night Mail Service, Effective Thursday Night,* May 7th The Tryon post office will dis patch mail to Spartanburg, S'. C., to make connections with the night trains over Star Route, Asheville, N. C., to Spartanburg, S. C. This service is daily except Sunday. Mail must be deposited in the letter drop not later than 8:40 p. m. The patrons of this office jvill find this much to their ad pfentage as mail for the west will •toake the same connections as if mailed on Train No. 10. Mail for the North will leave Spartanburg, S. C., at 12:59 a. m., arriving in Washington, D. C., the next morn ing at 11:30. This service includes all first class mail, air mail, special de livery packages, daily papers. Not ordinary parcel post. The lobby of the post office will be open until 8:50 p. m., daily. G. D. Cooksey, A. P. M. AT TRYON SCHOOL Junior - Senior entertainment, May 8th. Glee Club and Band Concert, May 15 th. Polk Men Leave For Army A number of Polk County men are being inducted into the U. S. Army this week. Before leaving Tryon they were given a farewell party by interested citizens at the local draft board office. Coffee and doughnuts were served by a group of young ladies and gifts were presented by Chairman Julian Hes ter and Dr* George Parrand Tay lor for the donors. A technicolor motion picture reel of the event was taken by Charles C. West. The soldiers leaving in a special chartered bus under the leader ship of Tommy Phipps and Boyd Swain were as follows: David Monk Moss, Tryon. William Marion Brock. Tryon. Douglas Russell, Saluda.
